Windows install disk, firewall turned "on" & FireFox/GoogleChrome installer. Best bang-for-the-buck virus removal and prevention combo in my opinion.
In my experience, once you get Internet Explorer out of the picture then you've eliminated virtually all virus risk on your system. I haven't run an antivirus on my home system in a couple of years.
