10 Tagged Cars

CNN Money tagged 10 cars with bad or unfortunate reputions. The picked on my beloved Vega, my mom's Chevette, and several others. Many of the cars got a reputation worse than they deserved but you can't control public opinion, can you? I'll have to defend the Vega some other time.

TV Quote (words to live by)

Just heard this on some TV show:

"If I'm gonna sleep in a rental car I'm not gonna do it sober."

Aerogel, Frozen Smoke

Very cool. NASA has created a company that has created a new material. It's called aerogel and it's nick name is frozen smoke. I first read about it here. I do believe that it has the ability to change the world. It seems that this was on CNN.com in May 2002. I'm a little behind.

Can't Delete Files?

DragonHawk wrote an article on SlashDot that got my attention. The title is "DMCA Means You Can't Delete Files On Your PC?". It's worth a read. It seems that some of the things we agree to means we can't delete files off of our PC. Amazing.

Somethings that make me go, hmmmm....

Millions long for immortality who don't know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
I'm not so sure I'd know what to do with myself on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Do you?

Secret Virtues

I saw this quote on the quote of the day gadget on my Google home page the other day:

No one gossips about other people's secret virtues.
- Bertrand Russell

Wouldn't this world be a better place if folks DID gossip about other people's secret virtues.

Fish ‘n Flush?

Fish in the toilet? This article makes me want to claim that now I've seen it all. Past experience though, says that I'll say this again soon. The internet is an amazing place...

This is such a stoopid idea that I think I want one except that it doubles the cleaning time of the toilet - once for the "stuff" that I've made and another for the "stuff" that the fish have made. Would my aim be less accurate because I was watching the fish? I'll let you know if I ever get one of these things.

The truth about the Federal Reserve Banks?

In an article on Bloomerg.com by William Pesek titled "Subprime Mess Finds Central Banks in Their Prime" there is a paragraph that really caught my attention:

"William Greider's concerns about central banks are as potent in 2007 as they were in 1989, when he published "Secrets of the Temple: How the Federal Reserve Runs the Country.'' Concentrating so much power in the hands of a few unelected officials is a dangerous situation."

How very interesting. I've longed maintained that creating the Federal Reserve Bank system was a huge mistake for the United States. Personally, I'd like to see the Federal Reserve Bank system abolished and go back to either a gold or silver standard and give our money intrinsic value.
